Interface level switches are used to monitor or control the level of two liquids with different specific gravity values. A common application is oil and water in the same tank. Because oil is lighter than water it will collect on the top of the water.
Operating Principle
An interface float is weighted to sink through the oil and float on the water to monitor what is called the interface level. Another float, which will float on the oil, can be used to monitor the rising oil level and signal an alarm or start a pump to remove the oil. Standard interface floats are .95 specific gravity...other weights available upon request.
